According to some medical experts, kids should get their vitamins from a balanced, healthy diet that includes:
- Milk and dairy products
- Plenty of fruits and vegetables
- Protein including chicken, fish, meat and eggs
- Whole grains
If you feel a vitamin is right for your child – due to excessive activity or as a dietary substitute:
- Avoid mega-vitamins and too much iron than can be bad for kids
- Pick a vitamin designed for children
- Opt for a vitamin that doesn’t provide more than 100% of the recommended daily amount of each vitamin/mineral
